signage rehab

January 24, 2016 by Karena Liberty Gurr

i happened upon this sweet sign, that i wanted to gift my husband for valentine's day... there was just one problem: i wasn't in love with the pattern around its edge.

armed with a rotary cutter, mat, some fabric scraps, mod podge & a sponge brush, I reinvented the look of this piece, to coordinate with my home.

to do:

  • measure the length & width of original piece
  • cut four strips in the desired length & width
  • spread a thin layer of mod podge along edges of the original piece, and lay fabric strips on top
  • add a second layer of mod podge on top of the fabric strips --- don't worry if you use too much mod podge (it appears milky in color), as it will dry clear.
